The simulation ends, and Shuene takes a step and then collapses into darkness. It could be the end for our hero. A dark realm, nothing but bitter blackness stands before Shuene. A voice echoes across the plain flat surface. "Failure, a nothing, worthless, not even classified as a human you monster. Death is all that awaits you where you are going, and those who you think of as friends will betray you and kill you. Run away and hide you coward, await death to find you. You may think you could die with honor but no one would ever think of you as honorable. You are nothing but the offspring of a once great race, the son of a disgraceful whore." The voice repeats a total of 4 times, then a loud ringing starts for what feels like hours. It pushes Shuene into the fetal position and he covers his ears as blood starts to come out of several areas of his face, and ears. Death once appeared to the young boy but never had it been so intent on stealing him away from the world.
The loud ringing reaches the real world and awakes several nearby crew members of the ship, and they rush in and grab Shuene and bring him to the medical bay. When he awakes he can neither see nor hear any words. The grasp of death has taken his sight and his hearing, he tries to call out but no words come forth. His voice was taken away from him also. The chief medical officer come closer and realizes he has no way to talk to Shuene. So the boy gets up and walks off, stumbling and falling every few feet. He eventually reaches a door he believes to be his own and opens the latch, he walks in and it feels further to the bed then he thought it would be. He lays down but the bed doesn't feel right, almost as if someone was there recently, but he drifts off anyways. Later the door opens but he doesn't notice due to the lack of senses, Lilli walks in and stares at Shuene for a short time before leaving her own room once again. The truth was that they had rooms in the exact same spot but hers was on the floor of the medical bay while his was the lowest floor of the ship.
I'll read the entire story when I have some spare time lying around.
