So the thought runs through his mind for a little while, and he realizes he could either fight and win or fight and die, but with the odds being about 96:1, he stands little to no chance at all. Shuene asks, "Is there an option I don't know about?". Lilli replies saying he could ask to be dropped off here and find his way from here, but it isn't a good idea since they are nearing the edge of Demon Valley, the valley that no mortal has ever been in, and few have been above and lived. To Shuene it sounds like he can either fight and die, or run and fall, and as it seems fit, he owes the 5 great ones this one last act of courage, and he must rescue Deus somehow, some way. Shuene knows little about the Demon's and their weakness, but he knows less about the people on this ship. He returns to his quarters and turns on the Training simulator. A voice echoes in his mind, "Welcome to this ship's built in trainer, the 5 modes are as follow, level 1, for a quick exercise, level 2, for a slightly trained soldier, level 3, for some of the higher up fighters, level 4, for the best of the best. Level 5 is currently not safe for mortals as it has never been lived through."
To Shuene, level 5 sounds like a challenge to his strength, and he decides by the time they exit this ship he must be able to conquer it. He begins with level 3, it isn't too difficult, although it isn't quite easy either, it takes a lot more out of him then he was expecting. He finishes up with a near perfect score, only points taken away for letting some enemies get away. He knows he is higher up for sure now, but tomorrow, level 4 is the test, and he isn't in the highest spirits on getting through it without ending up burnt out. In the middle of the night Shuene awakes in a cold sweat, the same nightmare again. He tries to get back to bed but simply can't, so he stands and walks to the machine, level 4 begins. He isn't quite fully refueled yet but if he can't be amazing on limited energy, then level 5 will never be done. He begins and the first few waves like in level 3 are just warm ups, small little guys, nothing major. But where level 3 went to more difficult, level 4 kept the same enemies. Something must have changed Shuene believes, but he can't tell what.
Nice cliff hanger (of sorts), Zack. Can't wait for the next installment.
